With a BSc in Physical Education and a MScin Human Movement Sciences, DrWiest focusedthe initial phases of his career on understanding sports biomechanics and human postural control. During his PhDat the University of Alberta, his main focus moved towards improving the use of neuromuscular electrical stimulation for rehabilitation and training. His current research interests as a postdoctoral fellow at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute are related to:
1) Understanding and improving muscle-bone function and health after spinal cord injury, and
2) Improving the quality of rehabilitation care for people living with a spinal cord injury.
